This program allows you to choose from over 40 study areas across the humanities, social sciences and languages, giving you the opportunity to study the subjects you love. Combine your Bachelor of Arts with 14 other undergraduate degrees including Law, Engineering, Science or Business, enabling you to complete two degrees in a shorter amount of time. Structure your program into two single majors; or an extended major and a minor; or one single major and two minors. Any major can also be studied as a minor. The Political Science major involves the study of political structures, processes and policies in Australia and other societies. It examines contemporary ideas, ideologies and theories that shape political decision-making and the various approaches to co-operation and conflict resolution within the international system. As a student in the Political Science major, you'll develop knowledge about different aspects of Political Science and how to integrate them, so you can better understand key political processes. You'll also be taught how to engage with and address pressing local and global issues.
Graduates of the Political Science major typically work in a variety of roles in both the public and private sectors. These include roles in diplomacy and foreign affairs; defense and intelligence; government and policy; international development; humanitarian services; community services; and consulting. Graduates also work in a range of careers anywhere that places a premium on skills like critical analysis, preparing papers in line with the protocols and conventions of the discipline, and communication.
