UQ's Bachelor of Clinical Exercise Physiology (Honours) is the only four-year undergraduate clinical exercise physiology program in Australia that lets you graduate with a respected honours qualification.

This four-year honour program will prepare you for an exciting career as an Accredited Exercise Physiologist. You will deepen your understanding of how exercise can treat a range of health conditions and injuries.

Learn how to deliver exercise-based lifestyle and behavioural programs for those with, or at risk of developing, chronic and complex medical conditions such as musculoskeletal issues, diabetes, cardio vascular disease and depression.

Complete more than 550 hours of clinical professional practice in our on-campus specialised exercise clinics and external industry placements. This will develop your clinical skills with a range of clients under the supervision of our highly experienced educators.

Graduate with a qualification that will set you apart and pave the way for further postgraduate studies. This is the only four-year undergraduate clinical exercise physiology in Australia that lets you graduate with a respected honours qualification.

Career outcomes

Accredited Exercise Physiologists (AEPs) have the advanced skills to design, deliver and evaluate safe and effective exercise interventions for people with, or at risk of developing chronic medical conditions, injuries or disabilities such as musculoskeletal issues, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancer and depression.

Graduates work alongside other health professionals within:

private or multidisciplinary clinics

hospitals and clinical services

home health services

workplace health and rehabilitation

research centres or universities

community health and fitness centres

Graduates can also work as Accredited Exercise Scientists (AESs). AESs apply the science of exercise to develop interventions that enhance performance or general health and wellbeing of apparently healthy and recreationally active individuals, and those with low-risk of chronic health conditions or injury. Many AESs are employed in areas such as corporate and community health and fitness, sports performance, strength and conditioning, clinical exercise testing, or research.
