Summary

The Bachelor of Physiotherapy is for those who want to prevent injury and disability in others as well as rehabilitate those already injured. You will learn how to identify, assess and treat conditions:

musculoskeletal

cardiorespiratory

orthopaedic

neurological

As a graduate, you will have developed skills to work with everyone from children to the elderly, as well as deal with gender-specific issues.

Our physiotherapy graduates have pursued careers in:

hospitals (private and public)

private practice

sports, physical activity and exercise settings

workplace settings

injury prevention

research

Graduates can also work as consultants in educational, government and industrial institutions, and/or conduct research that contributes to the knowledge base of the profession.

This physiotherapy course also offers students clinical placements during which they will be supervised by a clinical educator. During each placement students will develop and integrate knowledge, skills and professional behaviors in accordance with the requirements of the Australian Physiotherapy Council.

High achieving Bachelor of Physiotherapy students can undertake honors in the third and fourth years, provided they meet admission requirements.

Career paths

Graduates may work in a variety of areas including rehabilitation, paediatrics, women’s health, sports physiotherapy, cardiorespiratory, orthopaedics, gerontology and ergonomics, hospitals and rehabilitation units, community health centers and/or private practice.

Graduates can also work as consultants in educational, government and industrial institutions, and/or conduct research that contributes to the knowledge base of the profession.

Pathways to further study

Graduates may be eligible to progress to a postgraduate coursework degree within the Faculty of Health Sciences.

The equivalent of Australian Year 12 including studies in science

International English Language Testing System (IELTS): Overall score: 7.0; Individual score of:
7.0 in all tests

Pearson Test of English (PTE): 68 with a minimum of 68 in all four communicative skills

Test of English as a Foreign Language: Internet based total of 100: minimum 25 writing, speaking, reading and listening

ACU English Language Test: A (75-100%)

Cambridge Advanced English (CAE): Overall CAE score: 185; Individual score of 185 in all tests
