The Advanced Diploma of Hospitality Management will provide you with all the specialised knowledge required to work as a high-level manager within the hospitality industry. This advanced qualification reflects the role of highly skilled senior managers who use a broad range of hospitality skills combined with specialised managerial skills and substantial knowledge of industry to coordinate hospitality operations. They operate with significant autonomy and are responsible for making strategic business management decisions.

Outcomes for the Advanced Diploma of Hospitality Management

Students must obtain a competent result for each of the assessment items and subjects undertaken in the course to achieve the Advanced Diploma of Hospitality Management.

Emerald College will issue the Certification within 30 days of students being deemed competent in all courses they are enrolled in. Students who do not meet the requirements of all 33 units of competency, will receive a Statement of Attainment for those units that they have successfully completed.

This course will cover all required high-level management skills that you will require to work in applicable management hospitality roles across the accommodation, cookery, food and beverage, and gaming ind. The skills you can expect to learn will include finance, budgeting, developing business plans, marketing strategy, as well as monitoring and improving staff performances.

Completion of this course will provide a pathway into the hospitality sector as a senior manager within the accommodation or hospitality industry. You can expect to be employed by a diverse range of employers from restaurants, hotels, motels, catering operations, clubs, pubs, cafés, and coffee shops.

Entry criteria

Be at least 18 years of age.
Participate in a course entry interview to determine suitability for the course and student needs.
Have an IELTS* score of 5.5 (test results must be no more than 2 years old). English language competence can also be demonstrated through documented evidence of any of the following:
Educated for 5 years in an English-speaking country; or
Completed at least 6 months of a Certificate IV level course in an Australian RTO; or
Successful completion of an English Placement Test

*Note that other English language tests such as PTE and TOEFL can be accepted. Students are required to provide their results so that it can be confirmed they are equivalent to IELTS 5.5.
