Summary
This course is a component of a 5-level General English program. While the course can be delivered as a stand-alone program, it is designed to enable students’ progression from one level to the next. The curriculum is designed to enhance the English language proficiency of international students and visitors travelling to Australia for the purpose of improving their general English proficiency in speaking, listening, reading, and writing. The course is focused on improving general English language proficiency in speaking, listening, reading, and writing. A task-based approach is used to discuss a range of topics such as personal abilities, current events, or global issues; as well as practice common social interactions. The course is separated into 5 levels beginning with Elementary and ending with Advanced; each level takes approximately 10 weeks to complete. Elementary: Course outcomes include: Start and maintain a conversation involving your personal information; Describe your daily routines; Successfully make requests and offers; Recognise common Australian customs and social practices; Hold a conversation about their abilities. Advanced: Course outcomes include: Reading and comprehending news reports; Acquiring skills to check and repair conversations in real time; Learning how to write paragraphs, essays, and other formal compositions and Effectively giving a public presentation.
