This program is ideal for those who want to develop their career in the aged and community care industry. It reflects the role of workers in the community and/or residential setting who follow an individualised plan to provide person-centred support to people who may require support due to ageing, disability or some other reason. Work involves using discretion and judgement in relation to individual support as well as taking responsibility for own outputs. Workers have a range of factual, technical and procedural knowledge, as well as some theoretical knowledge of the concepts and practices required to provide person-centred support.
This program is designed as a mixture of classroom based training and a minimum of 120 hours of workplace training.
In classroom training, it is face-to-face delivery for students to attend and complete in-class activities, presentation, practice exercises and discussions. For the workplace training, it is a compulsory component of this course for all students and students will work in an appropriate aged care or community care environment with a minimum of 120 hours before graduation. There is no guarantee of employment or salary payment during workplace training.
After achieving CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support, individuals could progress to higher education qualifications in community services sector.
