The Australian Curriculum is the foundation of our quality learning program at Gold Coast Christian College. Our staff are committed to supporting the development of student capacity to apply knowledge and skills confidently, effectively, and appropriately in all aspects of their learning. Our Primary teachers work to create a differentiated, supportive, and safe learning environment for the students in their care to maximise learning potential. Our staff know their students and how they learn, they know the content and how to teach it and they plan collaboratively to implement effective teaching and learning. Our staff actively engage in professional learning using the Quality Adventist Schools Improvement Framework. This framework directs a formal school based review process, aiming to strengthen the professional learning culture. Marzano's Art and Science of Teaching is a framework used by teachers to inform best practice.
Reporting plays a key role in developing school/family partnerships to support student learning. Semester reports are provided twice a year and are only one of a number of ways the College communicates student achievement and commitment to learning. At the end of Term 1, parents receive an interim report which is a brief overview of student progress. Frequent and varied forms of informal feedback occur throughout the year to ensure students are aware of their learning progress to help shape their learning journey. Parents are encouraged to attend Parent / Teacher Interviews to discuss the formal report.
A full range of primary subjects from the Key Learning Areas are offered from Prep to Year 6 including the following:
