Summary
Kick start your mechanical career with this trade-level dual qualification that will get you working in the automotive industry sooner. The automotive industry offers the opportunity to get involved in a broad-based skills area driven by new technologies. This qualification will set you on the path to employment opportunities in more specialised diagnostic, servicing, repair, and maintenance roles.
In this course you will learn how to perform advanced diagnostic operations in the automotive retail, service, and repair environment. Carry out diagnostic procedures to identify complex faults in light vehicle petrol and diesel engines, electronic spark ignition engine management systems, and braking systems. You will also learn how to repair and service cooling systems, fuel systems, emission control systems, clutch assemblies, manual and automatic transmissions, final drive assemblies, and steering and suspension systems. The repair of ignition, electronic engine management, and electrical systems is also covered in this course.
Successful completion of this course will qualify you to work as a specialised automotive mechanical overhaul technician.

Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology
To achieve this qualification you will need to complete 36 Units:

118 Walker StreetAcademic Requirements: Completion of Year 12 (or equivalent). Non school-leavers must have relevant work experience or qualification that indicates likely success of course completion.
Students should be a minimum of 18 years of age. Student visa applicants under the age of 18 will be accepted where they demonstrate that they will be accompanied by a parent, legal custodian or a suitable relative who is aged 21 or over. This arrangement requires the approval of the Department of Home Affairs.
