Summary

The Certificate III in Marine Habitat Conservation and Restoration is to support the Marine Habitat Conservation and Restoration workforce development alongside a Social-Educational VET Reform. The proposed qualification is designed to address AQF level 3, Certificate III. The courses consist of small, clear, practical units providing skills and knowledge around ecosystem restoration and designed for people that might not graduate school, that have the desire to learn both underwater working skills and wish to take leadership in community professional marine restoration jobs, empowering local communities to take the marine and environmental initiative in their own hands. Creating jobs, reducing restoration coast. Along the Australian coast wide range of hands-on marine development, construction, conservation and restoration projects take place: • shore protection and wave breakers • artificial reefs • conservation based diving activities • seagrass and mangroves restoration • fauna and coastal environmental, etc. This qualification, supports on the job training and provides practical marine habitat conservation and restoration training, supporting marine communities develop local trained workforce, with focus on adult international, domestic and Australian indigenous students cohorts that may not be able to obtain an academic degree and enter the marine biology industry based on this accreditation and practical work experience. This course is aimed at people who work under the guidance of a supervisor. This qualification does not qualify its graduate to perform underwater diving. Graduates of this course will be engaged in the monitoring of marine environments, in activities with the public relating to marine restoration, and in conservation and restoration operations. They will operate monitoring equipment, collect samples, take part in various conservation and restoration projects and perform activities engaging the public and media relating to marine conservation and restoration. They will have the competencies required to participate in conservation and restoration and monitoring activities in marine areas.

TARGET LEARNERS

The learner cohort for this program is domestic and international students who are looking to become professional in Certificate III in Marine Habitat Conservation and Restoration.

DELIVERY MODE

Certificate III in Marine Habitat Conservation and Restoration is delivered face to face both on campus and at external locations. The course is delivered through practical training to ensure students have the capability to complete tasks while in the workplace under supervision.

PATHWAYS

After achievement of the qualification, graduates can assume higher levels of study through a Diploma which leads to Management roles.

Graduates can study up to Advanced Diploma level with Envirotech Education in areas of conservation, Environmental Management and Sustainability which may lead to variety of environmental management roles. NOTE 1: Envirotech Education may not offer all qualifications listed in possible pathways.

After successful completion of a Diploma level qualification, the graduate may progress through to an Advanced Diploma and so on. Graduates wishing to commit to further study can approach a university of their choice.

Entry criteria

Learners must be 18 years or above.

International Students must be competent in Literacy in order to fulfill course requirements. Therefore, will need to complete both an English Placement Assessment and a Language Literacy and Numeracy Assessment prior to enrolment into this course. Students with English as a second language must have a minimum English level equivalent to 5.5 IELTS.
