Summary

This qualification will equip students with a range of high-level technical skills and knowledge to carry out inspection work on damaged and repaired vehicles. They will develop skills to provide estimates and quotes for body repair work.

Domestic students can develop their skills through an Australian Apprenticeship arrangement. This includes a mix of on and off-the-job training that will be specified in the Training Plan associated with the Contract of Training between the employer and apprentice.

International students will have the opportunity to complete the program on campus through practical training and assessment and on-the-job placements.
Opportunity exists for 18-month post-study work visa. This makes the student job-ready.

Course Overview

This course is perfect for those working/who have worked in the automotive industry or apprentices to formally recognise their competency via on and off-the-job learning strategies.

Students will learn a range of skills including:

  • inspecting the quality of vehicle repair work
  • inspecting damaged vehicles
  • providing estimates and quotes for automotive body repairs
  • handling complex customer enquiries
  • applying original equipment manufacturer (OEM) repair procedures

WORK PLACEMENTS:

Students are encouraged to seek industry work placement to gain the maximum benefit from the course. This is an opportunity to not only apply and practice the skills acquired in a formal work environment, but to improve their capabilities. As a result, the student will not only meet but exceed their learning outcomes.

To achieve the AUR40718 Certificate IV in Automotive Body Repair Technology students must successfully complete 10 units of competency as outlined below:

  • AURANN011 Estimate and quote automotive body repairs

  • AURVTN032 Inspect vehicle damage and determine repair procedures
  • AURVTN035 Apply original equipment manufacturer repair procedures during vehicle repairs

Entry criteria

Those undertaking Certificate IV in Automotive Body Repair Technology must have completed an automotive Certificate III in one of the following disciplines, or be able to demonstrate equivalent competency.

  • AUR32116 Certificate III in Automotive Body Repair Technology
  • AUR32216 Certificate III in Automotive Glazing Technology
  • AUR32316 Certificate III in Automotive and Marine Trimming Technology
  • AUR32416 Certificate III in Automotive Refinishing Technology

English Language Proficiency – must demonstrate minimum language skills.
