Summary

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who perform a range of servicing tasks in the automotive retail, service and repair industry. This program will suit you if you have very little knowledge of motor vehicle mechanics and want to learn how to service vehicles and take on supervisory roles.

With this course, you will develop the skills and knowledge required to perform a range of servicing operations on light vehicles, heavy vehicles and/or motorcycles within an automotive service or repair business.

The Certificate II in Automotive Servicing Technology is intended to prepare new employees or recognize existing workers performing servicing and maintenance of vehicles in an automotive service or repair business.

The award of the national qualification requires the achievement of 20 units of competency, consisting of 13 core units and 7 elective units.

AURASA002 – Follow safe working practices in an automotive workplace

AURATA001 – Identify basic automotive faults using troubleshooting processes

AURETR015 – Inspect, test and service batteries

AURTTA004 – Carry out servicing operations

AURTTB001 – Inspect and service braking systems

AURTTC001 – Inspect and service cooling systems

AURTTD002 – Inspect and service steering systems

AURTTD004 – Inspect and service suspension systems

AURTTE004 – Inspect and service engines

AURTTK002 – Use and maintain workplace tools and equipment in an automotive workplace

AURTTQ001 – Inspect and service final drive assemblies

AURTTQ003 – Inspect and service drive shafts

AURTTF002 – Inspect and service diesel fuel injection systems

AURTTX002 – Inspect and service manual transmissions

Job Roles
