Summary

This qualification is designed to provide industry-recognised skills and knowledge required of a Metalworking Tradesperson.

Domestic students can develop their skills through an Australian Apprenticeship arrangement. This includes a mix of on and off-the-job training that will be specified in the Training Plan associated with the Contract of Training between the employer and apprentice.

International students will have the opportunity to complete the program on campus through practical training and assessment and on-the-job placements.
Opportunity exists for 18-month post-study work visa. This makes the student job-ready.

Engineers currently employed in the industry may be eligible to complete the program through:

  • Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) or
  • QLD Government Funded Program (QLD residents only) or
  • QLD Government Subsidised RPL and Gap Training (QLD residents only)

Course Overview

This course is perfect for those working/who have worked in the industry or apprentices to formally recognise their competency via on and off-the-job learning strategies.

Students will learn and apply skills related to a wide range of fabrication work, including:

  • undertaking metal fabrication

  • sheet metal work

Professional accreditation and recognition

Upon successful completion of this course, you be awarded with the Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade. This qualification is nationally recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF)

English Language Proficiency - must demonstrate minimum language skills.

Other criteria is determined by the Australian Department of Home Affairs (i.e. satisfying Visa requirements)

On-the-Job Learners

  • Access to workplaces with all the necessary learning resources

English Proficiency requirements:

  • For Trade Based Courses: An IELTS of 5.0 or Equivalent or 6 Weeks of English for Further Study.
  • IBT overall score 71 ( No band less than 70) or equivalent.
