Do you love taking boring, run-down rooms and transforming them into exciting, fresh spaces? Then maybe our course in painting and decorating is for you.

You’ll study applying paint, timber finishes, decorative finishes and wallpaper. You’ll also learn about the safety and business dimensions of working in this exciting industry.

The course is delivered over 64 study weeks. (Up to 94 weeks including holidays) A ‘Prac Block’ may be added to assist students to log 400 hours of work experience. The college will provide and verify the logbook. Students study between 3 to 7 units across an eight-study week term then have a 2 week “Research Break”

The Certificate III in Painting and Decorating is assessed through Assignments/ Workbooks, Case Studies, Written Tests and Observation Checklists.

Entry criteria

It’s a requirement for enrolment and for the grant of a student visa that students establish their English language proficiency. How you can do this depends on your passport and Education Sector, which determine your Assessment Level. Some levels can use the Academique test (80% or above, only available at Academique ) to establish their competence. Other levels need IELTS 5.5 or equal (or higher) or certified proof of successful Foundation, Certificate IV or higher studies. Students must be 18 years of age and over.
